The Student Life Counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive support services to a diverse student population, including students with disabilities and those requiring individual counseling. This role involves developing and implementing programs that foster student development, well-being, and academic success. The Student Life Counselor will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other campus resources to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Master's degree in counseling, Social Work, or related field (Required)

2. BLS Certification from American Heart Association (prior to students' arrival on campus) (Required)

EXPERIENCE:

1. Three (3) years' experience in higher education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or provisional status (Preferred)

EXPERIENCE:

1. Nursing program experience (Preferred)

2. Experience working with diverse populations (Preferred)

3. Accessibility Services experience (Preferred)

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Provide one-on-one counseling services to students to address personal, academic, and social challenges.

2. In collaboration with the Student Success Coordinator, develop personalized action plans to help students achieve their goals and overcome obstacles.

3. Maintain confidential and accurate records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

4. Assess and provide appropriate accommodations and support services for students with disabilities.

5. Collaborate with the faculty to ensure students receive necessary resources and accommodations.

6. Design and implement programs that promote student development, well-being, and academic success.

7. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and adjust as needed to meet student needs.

8. Provide immediate support and intervention for students in crisis. Make appropriate referrals, when needed.

9. Develop and implement crisis management plans in collaboration with Innovation Corporation security and other relevant departments.

10. Communicate necessary student information promptly to the Director of Student Services and Nursing Program Director.

11. Advocate for student needs and concerns within the campus community.

12. Participate in committees and initiatives aimed at improving student life and promoting an inclusive campus environment.

13. Provide training and support to faculty and staff on issues related to student mental health and well-being.

14. Manage case files and maintain documentation related to student interactions and services provided.

15. Prepare reports and analyze data to inform program development and improvement.

16. Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the mission and goals of the student services department.
