Develop, implement and maintain SEC's Safety program elements and activities to achieve safety goals and objectives while ensuring the company maintains a comprehensive safety program fitted to its unique operations and exposures, and complies with applicable regulatory agency and corporate requirements
Hazard Recognition and Control: Ensures implementation of methods or procedures designed to identify, evaluate, and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors that could result in personal injury or illness, violations of safety and health code or regulations, or property damage
Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with regulations promulgated by regulatory agencies such as state and federal OSHA, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Department of Transportation, and applicable consensus standards such as the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
Safety Training: Facilitates safety training of supervisors, managers, and hourly employees. Provides training material, programs and oversees the delivery of instruction designed to give employees the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their job tasks safely, and carry out their safety responsibilities effectively
Manages third-party safety training tracking software, Incident tracking/Root Cause Management (Intelex), SDS software, and Interfaces with cloud-based IS NetworldTM system and Veriforce for contractor safety data.
Develops countermeasures to resolve problems identified by inspections, safety observations, audits, investigations, and accident trend analyses and tracks identified issues to closure
Participates in, reviews, approves, accident and incident investigations, overseeing reporting and implementation of corrective actions
Develops and implements safety-training programs for current employees and newly hired employees
Analyzes accident investigation reports to identify loss trends
Requirements: Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
High School diploma or GED
Bachelor's degree, ASP, CSP, or related field experience is preferred
6+ years of experience in the health and safety profession, heavy manufacturing preferred
Working proficiency with MS Office; MSDS Online, Intelex
Previous experience and direct involvement in leading change in safety culture within an organization
Working proficiency with MS Office; MSDS Online, Intelex
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and can effectively interact with all levels of internal and external personnel
Detail oriented, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and display a sense of urgency and strong customer service
Displays good judgment, maintains confidentiality, as needed, and makes sound decisions
