Your Qualifications:
- Must successfully pass an entrance exam.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- 1-2 years of mobile equipment, industrial or construction experience is preferred.
Your Purpose: To assist in the Rail Car Dismantling (RCD) operations area using mobile equipment and inspecting scrap and parts which is critical to the operation and requires continuous attention to avoid errors and equipment damage. Your Work:
- Safely operatemobile equipment to include forklift and telescoping forklift in scrap operations.
- Exerciseextreme care in picking up and transporting loads, clearing obstacles, and properly positioning lifts to prevent production delays, damage to equipment or property and/or injury to others. Always maintainheightened awareness of surroundings to include pedestrians, mobile equipment, rail traffic, etc.
- General Inspection of RCD parts and scrap for any non-conforming material for quality, grade, and safety purposes.
- Sort and separate scrap and RCD parts according to grade to properly maintain scrap and parts piles for inventory control.
- Watch the operation of surrounding equipment and communicate any problems to responsible personnel.
- Move and inspect material, accurately recording weight, product, parts, and location.
- Perform routine equipment care such as lubrication, greasing, fueling, and cleaning of mobile equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, and push and pull objects.
- Ability to reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged sitting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate hand controls with both hands and foot pedals with both feet.
- Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching.
- Ability to tolerate working in areas where noise levels can reach 120 decibels.
