Pay: Based on experience

Shift Details: 7 AM - 7 PM/7 PM - 7 AM (12-hour rotating shifts from days to nights-4 on/4 off)

Welding Technician Responsibilities:



  • Analyzes reasons for production disturbances within the welder equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of unscheduled maintenance issues with the welder as well as all line and complex electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Creates and develops Preventive Maintenance Plans within the Guide-Ti system.
  • Reviews incoming Job Notifications in Guide-Ti and prioritizes as needed based on Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Line Performance Metrics.
  • Researches, develops, and coordinates Work Orders through completion from the Guide-Ti system.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level.
  • Prepares and presents reports and findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information trends.
  • Coordinates, trains, and leads maintenance technicians/operations (Continuous Improvement Training of Team).
  • Install and modify electrical/mechanical equipment following code, manuals, schematic diagrams, drawings, and other specifications with minimal instruction.
  • Collaborates with mechanical, electrical, operations, and contractor teams.

Requirements:



  • HS diploma or equivalent (additional education or technical certificates in related fields is preferred).
  • 3 years minimum experience in a heavy industrial environment with emphasis on going to a steel mill (experience will consider military, university, apprenticeship time, or a combination).
  • Technical knowledge of rotational equipment; mechanical power transmission, drive shafts, bearings, and couplings; hydraulic systems; cylinders, servo valves, piping, hose connections, filtration, etc.; lubrication systems; centralized oil and grease systems, lubrication practices, etc.
  • Experience reading Mechanical blueprints, and electrical diagrams, and working on Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and Power Transmission Systems.
  • Advanced PLC programming experience (Siemens preferred); strong working knowledge of 480-volt 3-phase electrical distribution systems and motor control; familiar with NFPA 70E safe work practices.
  • Strong communication, welding (stick), math (familiar with the metric system), troubleshooting, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, quality, and safety mindset paired with a strong work ethic and a high degree of professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) and knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Ability to stand for 12 hours and frequently lift 50 pounds.
