Job Summary:



The IT Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring seamless IT support for faculty, staff, and students in the School of Pharmacy. As the first point of contact for IT troubleshooting and technical assistance, this position provides hands-on support for both Windows and Apple systems, manages user access and security, and assists with audiovisual (AV) technology needs. In addition to resolving day-to-day technical issues, the role involves training users on best practices, maintaining IT security, and contributing to strategic technology planning. Key Responsibilities:



  • IT Helpdesk Support & Troubleshooting: Serve as the first point of contact for IT support, assisting faculty and staff with hardware, software, networking, and security issues across PC and Apple platforms.
  • User Training & Documentation: Develop training materials and provide guidance on data security, new technologies, and university IT best practices.
  • Audio-Visual Support: Assist with AV setup, troubleshooting, and support for faculty, staff, and students.
  • System Security & Maintenance: Monitor IT security, prevent unauthorized access, and implement preventive maintenance programs.
  • IT Planning & Implementation: Collaborate on IT strategy, recommending and implementing technology solutions to support the school's mission.
  • Facilities & Technical Support: Provide backup support for facilities operations, including package intake and network port activations.



Work Location:



Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:



  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.


Intermediate Level:



  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of professional level experience in the information technology field, designing, implementing, supporting, and managing information systems.


Senior Level:



  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of professional level experience in the information technology field, designing, implementing, supporting, and managing information systems.


A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience providing front-line IT support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues in a professional setting.
  • Experience with both Windows and Apple operating systems, including imaging, security settings, and domain management.
  • Experience managing user access, network shares, and security protocols.
  • Experience with audiovisual (AV) systems and providing AV support.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft/PC, Apple, Windows Server, RHEL platforms - e.g., extensive, and in-depth working knowledge of aforementioned platforms to include database, spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software/ hardware.
  • Ability to assess various PC and Apple computer hardware and software for potential use in the school.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

Entry Level: $47,594 - $60,540

Intermediate Level: $51,794 - $65,882

Senior Level: $55,993 - $71,223

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
