Are you our CNC Machinist?

This role reports directly to our Machine Shop Foreman in our Grayling, MI facility. As a member of the CNC Machinist team, you will contribute to operational excellence, foster collaboration across teams, and contribute to our organization's quality products and success. Your ability to focus on detail and deliver results will be critical in this impactful position.

Here's how you'll make an impact:



  • Prepare raw materials, tooling, and machine set-up by reviewing blueprints and engineering plans and machining parameters; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, setting tools and offsets,; calculate requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; verify part programs.
  • Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, rotary attachments, fixtures, collets, stops; and indicating vices.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, complete first-run part, and sample workpieces
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting operations; measure, detect malfunctions, troubleshoot, adjust, reprogram controls, sharpen/replace worn tools; follow quality assurance procedures and debur parts.
  • Ensure safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Observe and report machine preventive maintenance, malfunctions and repair requirements to proper personnel
  • Keep a clean and safe work area, including cleaning inside and outside of machines daily and maintaining vises, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Achieve organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Seasoned machinists are expected to guide and teach less experienced machinists to use safe and practical methods to achieve the highest quality product we can build.



To Succeed, You Will Need:

  • CNC and Tooling Experience: Previous experience in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools.
  • Blueprint literacy: Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
  • Basic computer and CNC programming skills: Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM. Mastercam programming highly preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude with solid math skills.
  • Attention to detail: A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
  • Physical requirements: Meeting the physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, and installing tooling throughout the entire shift.
