Purpose:

Lead and support the Instrumentation and Control System Engineering team for projects in the US MMM (Mining, Minerals, and Metals) business. Manage projects of various sizes, ensuring quality, cost, and schedule adherence. Responsible for the team's output, technical integrity, and compliance with safety standards, driving engineering excellence and adherence to industry codes.

All candidates must have proper documentation that proves their ability to work in the United States.

This is a full-time position based at our Mesa, Arizona office, with potential project assignments in Tucson, Arizona.

Responsibilities:



  • Lead and oversee engineering work, guiding engineers, designers, or drafters.
  • Interpret customer specifications and communicate with other disciplines and clients.
  • Support scope definition, estimation, and progress control of activities.
  • Lead RFP, estimations, detailed engineering, and field support.
  • Ensure familiarity with codes, mining Instrumentation and Control System standards, and customer requirements.
  • Support quality assurance and verification of engineering deliverables.
  • Resolve engineering issues and stay updated on Instrumentation and Control System advancements.
  • Ensure scope clarity and compliance with change management processes.
  • Participate in site walkdowns, project meetings, and design reviews.
  • Provide construction management support as needed.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, engineers, and other disciplines.
  • Mentor junior or intermediate staff.
  • Deliver engineering services that meet Worley, customer, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead a team for successful delivery on mining, minerals, and metals projects.
  • Coordinate technical deliverables and work with internal/external customers to ensure high-quality engineering products.
  • Utilize Instrumentation and Control System software and 3D modeling programs like Aveva E3D and Smart 3D.
  • Lead proposal development and client presentations.
  • Review engineering design, documents, and drawings for IFC issuance.
  • Demonstrate strong technical and problem-solving abilities, focusing on safety, efficiency, and value optimization.


  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Lead or Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer within the mining industry.
  • 4+ years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering applications within heavy industrial environments. Experience in mining environments is preferred, but transferable experience from industries such as power generation, oil & gas, pulp & paper, and chemical processing will be considered.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Instrumentation and Control Engineering in the state of Arizona or the ability to obtain licensure within an expedited timeframe.
  • 2+ years of EPC/EPCM project experience is preferred.
  • Advanced degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering is a plus.
  • Familiarity with mining regulatory/MSHA certification and standards is preferred.
