Purpose

As an integral member of the Herb Kelleher Entrepreneurship Center (HKEC), this position will support the coordination and execution of the Center's communication strategy. The position will focus on communicating opportunities for engagement to students, faculty, staff, and the larger entrepreneurial community; supporting Center fundraising through the creation of marketing collateral; and contributing to Center event coordination.

Responsibilities

Marketing and Communication Strategy

  • Develop the Center's marketing and communication strategy from initial conception to completion for delivery of publicity, promotions, lead generation and public relations materials.
  • Leverage the Center's network to analyze trends and data points to steer the Center's marketing strategy to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Conceptualize, plan, and execute marketing campaigns for the Center's programs, events, and services to increase student, alumni, donor, and community engagement with the Center.
  • Communicate with various stakeholders to determine media development needs and produce finished communication materials.
  • Establish measurable goals and evaluate program marketing and communication effectiveness using key analytics and metrics. Evolve strategic direction based on data and feedback.
  • Establish and document guidelines for the Center's voice to guide marketing collateral and information across channels.
  • Collaborate with McCombs partners, including Marketing and Communications, and the Department of Management on special projects and announcements, including gift announcements and new partnerships.

Branding, Content and Outreach

  • Identify target audiences, key channels, analyze media outlet trends and performance metrics to implement curated contact segments for students, donors, and alumni audiences.
  • Design graphics and write copy for the Center's social media channels and offline communication, including print and digital posters/flyers, creating/releasing media kits with partners and media outlets.
  • Maintain existing branding for the marketing and communication plans, ensuring message continuity, design, and tone across the portfolio. Refine and maintain cohesive, identifiable sub-brands for each of the Center's programs to drive engagement and recognition.
  • Research, interview, write, edit, promote, and publish effective content for use in press releases, feature stories, video scripts, newsletter content, web content, social media posts, print materials, and staff meeting slides.
  • Assist with management of the frontend and backend of HKEC website using WordPress and custom CSS coding. Collaborate with UT and McCombs web development teams as needed. Ensure engaging and effective user experience, search engine optimization, content management.
  • Manage HKEC social media channels, monitoring comments and conversations, and actively engaging with and expanding audiences.
  • Identify newsworthy research, activities, events, programs, or accomplishments of the Center and its students and to create meaningful weekly newsletters targeted at students and a monthly newsletter targeted at external partners/donors.
  • Create and execute post-event communications, videos, blogs, social media posts, and post-event surveys.
  • Collaborate with the Center's student staff team on content creation.

Event Support

  • Assist with coordination and production of events, coordinating with photography and media services, tracking RSVPs, assisting with day of logistics, and planning pre- and post-event promotion.
  • Select, design and procure promotional giveaways and collaborating partner/donor gifts.
  • Assist with event day-of logistics, including supporting event set-up, takedown, and attendee check-in.
  • Participate in live social media promotion during event and assist with facilitation of audience engagement.
  • Collaborate with HKEC team to host and facilitate monthly entrepreneurship coordination committee meetings and support committee projects as identified.
  • Support maintenance of Center CRM.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and five years relevant work experience. Strong skills in organization and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a positive, team-oriented manner with a variety of people, including representatives outside of the university.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple simultaneous projects, and be self-directive with limited supervision.
  • Experience with graphic design.
  • Proficient in various software, especially Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, and cloud file storage systems, and efficient at learning new technologies.
  • Familiarity with, and previous use of, social media in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and recording data.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or Business. More than the required relevant experience.
  • Experience developing promotional materials for university programs and/or programs related to entrepreneurship.
  • Experience with University of Texas policies, procedures, and administrative systems. Familiarity with McCombs and UT brand guidelines.
  • Previous experience using Eloqua to create and schedule email campaigns.
  • Previous experience analyzing data obtained through AB testing and email optimization.
  • Basic HTML and CSS coding experience.
  • Experience with video editing and journalistic writing.
Salary Range

$50,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Works in standard office conditions, in a shared office environment with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required during peak periods and special events.
