Purpose

The key purpose of the Business Development Manager position is to expand and maintain the employer ecosystem for the McCombs School of Business across BBA, MPA, MS, and MBA Programs.

Responsibilities
  • RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Drive relationships with a portfolio of employer partners seeking to hire McCombs students. Provide consultative approach to established employers seeking to deepen their relationship and campus brand. Manage and lead strategic and escalated conversations. Understand hiring trends and talent profile preferences for assigned primary industries and partners in portfolio. Ensure employers are hiring for roles that meet student demand. Build relationships with hiring managers and company leaders in portfolio to provide year-round job postings for all undergraduate and graduate programs. Pitch recruiting programming and sponsorship opportunities, when appropriate.
  • COMMUNICATIONS AND CROSS-FUNCTIONAL PARTNERSHIPS: Provide content and strategic insight on how to market Texas McCombs talent to employers and how to improve employer communications. Serve as a strong cross-functional partner to Recruiting Operations, Employer Engagement & Special Events, Career Education and Coaching and Program Office counterparts. Analyze qualitative and quantitative YOY hiring trends and provide data and insights to internal teams to support advising and development efforts.
  • BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: Acquire aspirational employers (or new business units within existing employer partners) for our recruiting ecosystem. Build and cultivate an employer portfolio withprospects focusing on companies seeking to hire Texas McCombs talent. Attend relevant community meetings and events to broaden our reach as well as establish relationships with new employers. Handle incoming requests for information on recruiting, educate employers about recruiting processes and opportunities, and connect new employers with appropriate internal resources to execute on identified goals.
  • OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS: Develop structured projects, timelines and account overviews to accomplish individual goals and best support the team. Some special projects may include industry overviews, specific data analytics, and/or cross-functional committees for the employer and corporate ecosystem.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of business development, corporate development, account management, consulting, strategy and/or employer relationship experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and implementing relationship development strategy as well as achieving business development and partnership targets; deep experience working with senior/executive leadership.
  • Must have: excellent oral and written communication; experience with data analysis in Excel, creation of PowerPoint and/or Canva slides; exceptional attention to detail and editing capability; ability to work independently.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude, teamwork and collaborative in nature, and take initiative on projects. Comfortable presenting high-level strategy to executive leadership.
  • Extensive knowledge of job market, hiring, and recruiting processes.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master's degree in a related field and seven years of business development and employer relationship experience. Knowledge of Higher Education environments, prior business school recruiting, business development, relationship management, corporate relations or career services experience.
  • Experience building and cultivating strong partnerships in a university and/or corporate setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with undergraduate and graduate business students, alumni, faculty, staff, and recruiters.
  • Familiarity and experience with leveraging new technology and software.
  • Experience with Canva, 12Twenty and/or Smartsheet a plus.
  • Experience working with pivot tables in Excel.
Salary Range

$60,000 - $65,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • May work under standard office conditions with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Regular evening and weekend hours required.
  • M-F work hours will flex accordingly.
  • This is an Austin, Texas-based position.
