The University of Texas at Austin (UT) invites applications for the Program Director of UTNY, UT's semester- and summer-long "study-away" program in midtown Manhattan. This senior administrative role-a fulltime, in-person position-may also have an opportunity to teach based on experience. The position will report to the Executive Director of UTNY.

The director should have demonstrated leadership and management experience, experience living and/or working in New York City, and understanding of teaching and program development in higher education. The position may include a teaching load of one course per semester, including summer, totaling three courses per year.

The UTNY Program is an experiential learning program that gives UT Austin students from all majors an opportunity to spend a semester or summer in NYC, learning about the culture and industries that make NYC one of the most exciting places to launch a career. Students in the UTNY academic programs participate in credit-earning internships and/or take classes in the UTNY facility classrooms.

Purpose

This position will focus on: (a) strategically promoting a unified vision for UTNY to the entire UT campus; (b) adding and incorporating new academic and programmatic offerings into the UTNY program to expand student participation; (c) strengthening the relationships and collaborations with, and financial support from, alumni, parents, organizations, and industries from the greater NY area; (d) managing the program, staff, budget, and facility; (e) ensuring compliance with New York state and city rules, regulations, and approvals.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely in conjunction with Moody College of Communication, McCombs School of Business, College of Fine Arts, College of Liberal Arts and other program affiliates.

  • Develop, support, and market academic program and extracurricular enrichment offerings that meet the needs of UT students from various majors and programs.

  • Design and support professional development and curricular enrichment programs through UTNY that meet the needs of recent graduates, alumni, and student family members in the greater NYC area.

  • Recruit, retain, manage, and support the UTNY staff and support personnel.

  • Strengthen existing partnerships for UTNY programs while exploring new opportunities for partnerships and new revenue streams.

  • Strengthen and support UTNY fundraising efforts in collaboration with UT and College/School Development leaders.

  • Manage and advance UT's relationship with the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to support UTNY programs and ensure compliance.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Master's degree and a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience managing student support programs, academic advising, and/or developing student initiatives. Demonstrated success in personnel management, including supervision, and budget management. Demonstrated record of successful program development and assessment. Evidence of effective leadership experience with students, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders. Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills are required.Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally. Self-motivated, with a systematic and extremely prepared work style.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with established connections with industries and organizations in the greater NYC area are strongly preferred.

Salary Range

$115,000 + depending on qualifications
