BA is hiring a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineering Team Leader at our Coral Gables office to manage projects and lead a dynamic team of civil engineers. This role is crucial in helping us expand our practice and footprint, aiming to establish our discipline as a premier global practitioner of civil engineering work. Responsibilities
Essential functions: As a Civil Engineering Team Leader, you will:
Leadership & Project Management: At BA you will use your leadership and project management skills to:
- Motivate and inspire team members.
- Oversee civil engineering project phases from initiation to completion, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance, supervision, and support to junior engineers and project teams, ensuring adherence to civil engineering standards and best practices.
- Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Foster a collaborative team culture with a focus on innovation and excellence, where team members are encouraged to push boundaries and think creatively.
- Craft project proposals, scope, schedules, and fee structures, and work with stakeholders to clearly communicate and satisfy project needs.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project requirements are met and strong relationships are maintained.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project delivery.
- Maintain an updated backlog of ongoing and upcoming projects and conduct resource forecasting for efficient allocation and utilization of team members.
- Serve as technical expert and discipline representative at various meetings and events as required.
- Deliver presentations to clients and stakeholders, and at conferences, networking events, and to professional organizations to highlight the distinctive and innovative services BA offers to clients.
- Mentor and train more junior staff members to help them hone and develop their skills for professional growth and success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in civil and site civil engineering project management of land development, infrastructure, water and wastewater treatment and disposal, drainage and stormwater waste plans, and transportation projects.
- Must be a Florida-registered Professional Engineer (PE); additional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED, ENV SP) are a plus.
- Proven experience in dealing with local regulatory agencies such as WASD, DERM, and Public Works.
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Office suite and MS Project) and strong understanding of civil engineering principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Approximately 10% - 15% travel to job sites will be required.
