Position Highlights:

  • Position: Medical Laboratory Technician - Microbiology
  • Hourly Pay Range: $29.00 Resource Rate. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
  • Location: Evanston Hospital
  • Full Time/Part Time: Resource- per diem
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, as needed, weekends included

What you will do:

  • Perform a variety of routine and complex assays in at least (3) areas of the clinical laboratory
  • Ensures the accuracy and precision of diagnostics results through performance and maintenance and calibration of multiplex instrumentation systems
  • Routinely resolves technical and interdepartmental problems related to the various laboratory areas
  • Readily identified problems that may adversely affect performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying supervising personnel when appropriate
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others

What you will need:

  • License: n/a
  • Education: Associate's degree or the requisite courses to meet CLIA requirements for moderate to highly complexity testing
  • Certification: MLT (ASCP_ certification preferred, ongoing certification is strongly preferred
  • Experience: previous experience preferred
  • Unique or Preferred Skills: Able to solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to various Laboratory areas with assistance under supervision. Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel to assist with taking corrective action. Good communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
