Hazmat Worker

Position Summary:
Advancia Government Services (a federal government contractor) is seeking a Hazmat Worker to support base operations on Fort Leonard Wood, MO. The Hazmat Worker will be responsible for handling hazardous materials in a safe and compliant manner, ensuring the proper containment, transportation, and disposal of potentially dangerous substances. This role requires adherence to strict safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards to protect people, property, and the environment from hazardous material exposure.
**Position is contingent upon award of contract.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
*Safely handle, store, and transport hazardous materials according to OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory guidelines
*Conduct regular inspections of hazardous material containers, workspaces, and equipment to ensure they meet safety standards and are in good working conditions.
*Perform decontamination of equipment, workspaces, and personal protective equipment following hazardous material handling operations
*Respond to hazardous material spills, leaks, or accidents ensuring the situation is managed safely and reported according to company policies and legal requirements
*Maintain accurate records of hazardous material handling, storage, and disposal activities ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies
*Participate in ongoing safety training and stay current on hazardous material handling procedures, regulation, and industry best practices
*Work closely with other safety personnel, supervisors, and emergency responders to implement safety protocols and manage risks associated with hazardous materials
Education & Experience Requirements
*High School Diploma or equivalent
*Certification in hazardous materials handling preferred
*Three (3) plus years proven experience working with hazardous substances in an industrial or environmental setting
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
*Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing hazardous materials
*Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols
*Strong problem-solving and emergency response skills
*Good communication and teamwork abilities
*Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined or hazardous environments
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands
*Involves shift work that can include on-call requirements for emergency situations
*Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required depending on the needs of the facility
*Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions
*Work may be required in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
*Will involve walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and bending for extended periods of time
*May be required to work in confined spaces
*Work may involve lifting and moving of heavy items, up to 50 lbs
*Will work in potentially hazardous environments
*Must be capable of wearing PPE, including but not limited to respirators, protective suits, and gloves for extended periods
