Heavy Equipment Operator

Location: Fort Leonard Wood, MO

Employment Class: Full-Time Regular

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Hourly

Position Summary:

Advancia Government Services (a federal government contractor) is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator who will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining various types of heavy machinery, such as bulldozers, excavators, cranes, backhoes, and loaders. This role is essential in construction, mining, and other industrial operations. The operator must adhere to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the job site

**Position is contingent upon award of contract.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

*Safely operate heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, cranes, loaders, and backhoes to perform tasks such as digging, lifting, grading, and moving earth or minerals
*Perform routine checks and maintenance on machinery, including inspecting fuel levels, oil, and hydraulic systems
*Cleaning equipment to ensure proper functioning and prevent breakdowns
*Prepare construction sites by clearing land, leveling surfaces, and moving materials like dirt, gravel, and sand to required locations
*Dig trenches, foundations, and other earhtworkds for construction projects ensuring the appropriate grade and alignment according to project specifications
*Follow all safety guideline and company procedure, including wearing appropriate protective gear maintaining a safe work environment and conducting pre-operation safety checks
*Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other equipment operators to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely according to project schedules
*Safely load and unload materials, move materials around the site, and assist with material distribution according to project needs

Education & Experience Requirements:

*High School Diploma or equivalent
*Class A or B CDL license required
*Proven experience operating heavy equipment in construction, mining, or industrial environments

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

*Strong knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to heavy equipment operation
*Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
*Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment
*Good communication and teamwork skills

Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands

*Involves shift work that can include on-call requirements for emergency situations
*Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required depending on the needs of the facility
*Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions
*Work may be required in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
*Will involve walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and bending for extended periods of time
*May be required to work in confined spaces
*Work may involve lifting and moving of heavy items, up to 50 lbs
*Manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment
