College of Graduate Studies:

UCF's College of Graduate Studies has nearly 10,000 students and 250 postdoctoral scholars. They expand their knowledge and skills under the guidance of our world-renowned faculty, utilizing our state-of-the-art facilities. Our alumni have accomplished amazing feats such as discovering new species and exoplanets, serving as a Vice President of Google, winning a Daytime Emmy Award, becoming a member of the Florida House of Representatives, and developing a vaccination for a global pandemic.

Working with over 1,500 graduate faculty members representing nearly 250 graduate degree and certificate programs across 11 academic colleges, the Graduate College provides institutional oversight to improve the graduate education/postdoctoral training experience at UCF.

The Opportunity:

UCF's College of Graduate Studies is currently accepting applications for a Graduate Admissions Coordinator I. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, University Admissions, this position supports the College of Graduate Studies, graduate programs, prospective and incoming graduate students throughout the graduate admissions process. The primary responsibility is to recruit, evaluate, and participate in the selection of candidates for admission of targeted market segments as assigned.

Attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and a strong work ethic are key characteristics for anyone in this position. Responsibilities:


  • Evaluates and processes graduate applications and supporting materials to ensure College of Graduate Studies policies and university admission regulations are met.

  • Independently reviews and approves admissions actions by graduate programs to determine if applicants meet minimum BOE/BOG and university standards for admission or readmission to graduate status.

  • Responsible for management and control of all admissions decisions and related issues.

  • Computes necessary baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral GPA for admission in compliance with university admission standards.

  • Authorizes application holds and removal of holds when the file becomes complete.

  • Admits and denies certain students without graduate program approval.

  • Compiles and organizes data for statistical surveys and reports for the Director of Admissions, the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, the Institutional Knowledge Management and the Board of Education.

  • Evaluates and clears all assigned student record clean up audits in student database system.

  • Collaborates with graduate program faculty and staff to answer questions related to graduate admissions regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Addresses questions, concerns, and problems regarding the graduate application, application review system and other technologies used throughout the admissions process in order to provide support to our campus partners.

  • Serves as liaison between applicants and graduate program staff.

  • Responds to student inquiries and counsels graduate students about application and admission policies/procedures.

  • Reviews and evaluates applications and academic credentials to advise applicants.

  • Investigates problems regarding student files and assists students with registration, class schedules, and website navigation.

  • Communicates with faculty and staff to resolve student registration issues.

  • Evaluates and processes graduate applications and application materials using PeopleSoft, Slate, and other College of Graduate Studies technology.

  • Directly trains and supervises OPS staff assigned to the admissions area as needed.

  • Provides helpful and timely customer service for prospective students via phone, email, or other technologies in order to answer prospective student questions.

  • Assists with the implementation of regular communication strategies with prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment.

  • Facilitates presentations, trainings, or other workshops for prospective students or current faculty and staff related to graduate admissions.

  • Represents the College of Graduate Studies at graduate fairs, conferences and other recruitment events both locally and nationally.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Admissions, the Director of Admissions, the Associate Dean, or the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

We welcome candidates with experience in any of the following areas:


  • Experience working with college students, preferably in admissions, advising, or student affairs.

  • Proficient in using Slate, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.

  • Proficient in using computers and related technology.

  • Thorough knowledge of administrative practices and principles, Board of Education and University rules/regulation, Florida State Statute regarding Residency for Tuition Proposes, and College of Graduate Studies policies and procedures.

  • Strong customer service experience, with the ability to engage students and prospective students.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles and approaches to meet the unique needs of students from various backgrounds.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.


Special Instructions to the Applicants:

Occasional local, out of state, and overnight travel required to support student recruitment efforts.

This position requires a valid Class E driver's license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
