Overview

The Software Product Owner will be a key team member who drives the process of transforming requirements into user stories for development teams to deliver in an Agile environment. The candidate will follow established software engineering processes and methodologies to successfully move solutions through the development lifecycle.This position will work closely with software engineers and managers.

The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, be able to juggle multiple tasks at once, work independently, and maintain professionalism under pressure. You must also be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, and work to improve the customer experience.

Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to

    Develop and prioritize product backlogs, working closely with engineering teams to ensure software solutions are delivered on time and aligned with the product vision.
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to understand user requirements and market trends, translating them into actionable product features.
  • Communicate a clear product vision, securing buy-in from cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives, to drive continuous improvement and ensure alignment with the product roadmap.
  • Advocate for user-centered design, ensuring that the user experience is a central focus throughout the product development process.


The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an agile Product Owner or in a related software product management role, with a strong understanding of agile methodologies.
  • Proven experience in leading agile teams and managing software product lifecycles from ideation to launch.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; background or strong interest in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related fields is not required but is a big plus.
  • Familiarity with software development processes and tools; experience with materials characterization techniques is advantageous but not required.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for delivering high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of scientific users.
