Patient Care Associate II - FT Day
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides technical support to physicians and nurses. Assists professional staff by participating in direct and indirect patient care to include performing EKGs, finger stick glucose, phlebotomy, wound care, obtaining and recording vital signs, and performing materials management and maintenance as directed by the professional staff and in accordance with approved policies and procedures. Applies a variety of orthopedic splints, applies post suture and superficial abrasion dressings, and assists patients with correct crutch fitting.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must meet one of the following requirements: (1) Recent experience in a comparable role in a hospital setting or (2) have a valid current and active certification from a credentialing organization approved by Valley Health System
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in performing phlebotomy/EKG and basic emergency care, operating emergency room equipment, operating a computer utilizing a variety of software applications strongly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology.

Must be able to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods, handle frequent interruptions, and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to work cooperatively with members of the healthcare delivery team, staff, and co-workers. Ability to set priorities, solve problems, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and assist in meeting the patient care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
