This position is located on Roi-Namur on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. It is an unaccompanied position (no family accommodations or pets). Essential Functions
- Install and maintain all types of electrical equipment at the range facilities, including but not limited, to specialized control systems, motor generators, servo systems, digital encoders, uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems, electrical distribution panels, transformers, and large switching equipment connected to high voltage feeders from an on-island power generating stations.
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits (120vac single phase) in an office setting, as well as, industrial site providing power to areas and equipment (208-460vac 3 phase power).
- Performs installation, removal and repair of electrical equipment, such as switchgear, transformers, starters, controllers, capacitors, and production equipment power and control systems, such as PLC.
- Install conduit and wiring; and performs basic modifications to existing facility electrical systems.
- Inspect, test, and diagnose issues with electrical systems and components.
- Test electrical systems and components to ensure proper functioning.
- Inspects buildings, grounds and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call schedule, responding to outages and other events.
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Comfortable reading and understanding electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Working knowledge of electrical theory, and the associated principles, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to identify wires by color.
- Ability to read and comprehend National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Perform all work in a manner that meets and follows electrical code.
- Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in English.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to balance, plan, prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to adapt to changing situations.
- Able to work cooperatively and solve problems in a teaming environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools associated with electrical work.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Required Experience
- Associate's degree or technical school in electrical or a related field, or apprenticeship, or a combination of education and experience.
- Eight (8) years' technical experience in installation, testing, troubleshooting; and repair of electrical equipment.
- Journeymen's Electrician License desired.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Required to pass a Federal Background Investigation to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must be able to relocate to Roi Namur, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently.
- Ability to bend, climb, squat, reach, kneel and lay horizontally as the job may require.
- Must be able to climb a ladder and steps, and work at heights up to 30 feet.
- Ability to work in confined spaces depending on the maintenance requirement.
- This position is unaccompanied.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a USAG-KA driver's license.
- The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support emergencies, and specific project or mission requirements.
