Description

Instruction: Commonly assigned teaching duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Design coherent instruction/tutorial lesson using unit and lesson structures that align with

standards and best practices.

2. Develop and continually update learning resources and curriculum based on students' needs.

3. Create a tutorial environment characterized by respect and rapport that promotes a culture of

learning.

4. Uses a variety of instructional strategies that engage students in age-appropriate learning, e.g.,

computer-assisted, cooperative learning, and various student-centered approaches.

5. Manage student behavior and classroom procedures effectively.

6. Assess student learning using formal and informal assessment techniques as needed for

individual students.

7. Maintain accurate records and provide student progress information when requested. (Collect

and submit work samples that document performance as may be required.)

8. Develop and maintain supportive and cooperative relationships with colleagues and agency

personnel. Work to help maintain good relations with the CISP personnel.

9. Grow and develop professionally.

10. Perform non-instructional duties as may be required.


Qualifications

1. Pennsylvania teaching certificate required.

2. Experience using instructional technology required. Qualified candidates must be capable of

advancing the integration of instructional technology into tutoring lessons.

3. A functional knowledge in the areas of special education, juvenile justice, and child welfare is

required. Successful experience working with juvenile court-affiliated students preferred.

4. Possesses highly refined communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

5. Demonstrated ability and willingness to function as one member of a pupil services team that

works cooperatively with public school and social service agency personnel.

6. Excellent collaboration, leadership skills and strong organizational skills.

7. Ability to build trust and positive working relationships with multiple internal and external

stakeholder groups.

8. Task-oriented, self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.

9. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and

Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies.

10. PA Drivers; license and ability to travel throughout Allegheny County.
