BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT FIELD SERVICE SPECIALIST II CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (CDOT) Number of Positions: 4 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $68,676*; Grade V-13 Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59 pm CDT on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. *NOTE: This title is on a step schedule and the salary range for the grade V-14 schedule is $68,676 - $115,584. New hires will start at the first step of $68,676 annually. The starting salary is non-negotiable. This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City's Collective Bargaining Agreement with the LABORERS INTERNATIONAL UNION OF N.A. LOCAL 1001 (BU#54). Only employees currently in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid. Under supervision, performs at the fully functional level, conducting traffic surveys and field inspections of construction activity in the public way, and performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS Two years of work experience inspecting public way construction and demolition projects, or interpreting blue prints for public way construction and demolition projects; and/or determining street sign placement; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications * A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required * Must have the permanent use of an automobile that is properly insured, including a clause specifically insuring the City of Chicago from accident liability NOTE: Persons hired into this title must have the permanent use of an automobile that is properly insured including a clause specifically insuring the City of Chicago from accident liability. NOTE: You must provide your valid U.S. driver's license AND proof of automobile insurance at the time of processing. NOTE: You must provide your transcripts or diploma at time of processing, if applicable. SELECTION REQUIREMENTS This position requires applicants to successfully pass a skills test and complete an interview. The test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after the test results have been analyzed and compiled. Candidates who pass the exam will be selected for an interview. The interviewed bidders receiving a passing score on the exam and possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected in seniority order according to the collective bargaining agreement.
