The Controller will work alongside the General Manager of multiple Business Units, to assist with the delivery of the business units financial and operational information and assists with the strategic objectives. The Controller is responsible for and will provide accurate and timely financial information with analysis and recommendations in a format which enables the business to make effective decisions and plan its strategies, ensuring that the business achieves its targets. The role will be a key member of the Business unit management team and the North American Finance team. This role will form an integral part of the North American Finance function and will have full day to day responsibility for multiple Business unit financial and operational reporting. It will interface with the Accounts Payable and Receivable functions as well as the Payroll departments. They will be fully responsible for timely and accurate reporting of the business unit's ERP system and well as Hyperion based reporting system. Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, the monthly close, planning and coordinating plant budget and business planning activities in alignment with corporate policies and practices.
- Responsible to provide financial direction and recommendations to improve site performance.
- A proactive business partner to the General Manager(s) as well as the North American accounting team; providing leadership and management of financial activities and working with the site leadership team, and all departments and levels of employees to drive company growth and initiatives
- Provide analysis, management reporting, planning, and accounting support to our growing global business
- Prepare balance sheets and profit and loss statements, and other financial reports
- Complete balance sheet reconciliation
- Load financial results in Hyperion
- Responsibilities also include:
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Financial month end close process
- Daily, weekly and monthly reporting and commentary
- Financial analysis and comparison's of current results to prior year and plan
- Creating and preparing financial analysis
- Product costing analysis
- Track and communicate capital expenditure projects
- Excess and obsolete inventory review
- Collection of accounts receivable
- Ad hoc reporting
- Assisting departments and other business unit accounting personnel
- Managing accounting staff
- Special projects as assigned by General manager or the CFO of North America
- Provide financial training and support to the General Managers, to help with their ability to interpret and use the financial results of their Business
- Assist the General Manager in setting the strategic direction for the business, providing vital financial input and ensuring alignment with the group's overall objectives
- Potential to assist with any future North American acquisitions including due diligence and post-acquisition integration
- Support the group's health and safety policy by helping to ensure a safe working environment for all employees, contractors and visitors
- Build a daily communications rapport with the General Managers of your Business units, tackling financial issues, strategic direction and day to day financial tasks
- Ensure all cash, bank, sales and order reporting is completed
- Provide support to the back-office team to ensure they are providing robust, reliable, timely and accurate data and systems in the following financial functions -
- Oversight of direct report in accounts payable, accounts receivable
- Verify recording payroll expense and accruals in the general ledger
- Oversee and undertake accuracy, timely update and maintenance of all financial information contained within the business systems
- Oversee annual inventory counts and where appropriate implement random spot checks through the year based upon risk
- Review, adjust and maintain all financial control processes on an ongoing basis to ensure control is maintained
Requirements
Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent; Master's degree a plus
- CPA a plus, but not required
- 5-7 years proven experience, preferably in a private sector, multi-site organization; multi-country experience a plus
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (V look ups, pivot tables), Word, Outlook, data mining and ERP systems
- QuickBooks, Solomon and Hyperion system experience a plus
- Strong knowledge of American financial regulatory and statutory requirements including familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the accounting and finance field, including cost accounting
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Excellent organization, scheduling, planning, record keeping skills
