Job Summary
Caltech's Student-Faculty Programs (SFP) office provides programs and support for undergraduate research, diversity-focused graduate school recruitment, and effective and inclusive mentoring. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost/SFP Director, this position is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities that enhance and support the development of undergraduate and graduate student researchers. This position requires an ability to multitask in a high-volume office, take initiative, and work independently while providing outstanding service to the students, faculty, alumni, donors, and staff with whom we work. Some evening and weekend hours are expected.
Essential Job Duties
- Assist in developing and delivering programs and advising to first-year undergraduates that help build research acumen, increase understanding of the research process, develop identity as scholars and researchers, and provide advising in finding research opportunities.
- Work closely with the Caltech Center for Inclusion and Diversity (CCID), the Director of New Student Transition Programs and First-Year Experience, and the Career Achievement, Leadership, and Exploration (CALE) office to build collaborative efforts that support first-year students in their pursuit of research.
- Assist in planning and executing programs and advising to first- and second-year graduate students that help them transition to an intensive research setting. Work closely with the GSRI program, Graduate Studies Office, and division/option faculty and administrators to identify gaps in current offerings and to build collaborative efforts that support graduate students.
- Assist in developing and delivering effective and inclusive mentoring workshops and resources that support the mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Support "pre-research" efforts on campus, including the Rising Tide, Caltech Connection, and DIVE programs.
- Support current SFP programs and co-curricular efforts that support our entire undergraduate research community.
- Participate in current SFP diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, including WAVE Fellows, conference recruitment, FUTURE Ignited, Caltech Shines, and Leadership Alliance programs.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- Two years' experience planning and implementing programs that support student success, preferably in a STEM environment.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Capable of solving both routine and semi-routine problems.
- Strong oral and written communication and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to manage change.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent experience in STEM-related field.

Hiring Range
$57,600 - $73,500 per year
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
