Job Overview:

Ingersoll Rand's Pump Business Unit, a leader in high-quality, reliable pumps, is growing! To strengthen our industry leadership, we're hiring a Product Lifecycle Engineer. Based in your Alsip manufacturing facility, the Product LCE will play a pivotal role in shaping product and process developments that cater directly to customer demands and strategic business goals.

Reporting to the Global Engineering Director and collaborating with a talented engineering team, you will play a key role in driving product innovation and efficiency. Your primary focus will be on supporting existing product line design, managing the full product lifecycle-including new product development (NPD)-and leading cost-reduction initiatives that enhance our cutting-edge positive displacement gear pump technologies. Leverage your expertise in engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and component inspection procedures in a role where you'll take ownership of product line design, driving key PPV and I2V initiatives. Responsibilities:


  • Design ownership of external gear pump product line: configuration, changes, extensions, and enhancements

  • Lead assigned lifecycle engineering initiatives related to growth, quality, supply chain, and value engineering (VAE).

  • Lead and support initiatives to enhance customer and shareholder value by supporting PPV and I2V (Innovate to Value, similar to VAE) initiatives.

  • Lead new product introductions into the factory, working closely with Manufacturing
    Engineering, Materials, and Operations
    teams to support engineering builds, manufacturing
    launch, and operator tools/structures for success.


  • Create and revise product documentation to current industry standards.

  • Specify required tests, qualify requirements, and measurement expectations for existing products and alternate product concepts.

  • Submit requests for testing and work collaboratively with lab technicians during test execution to assure that test objectives are met.




Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (mechanical engineering preferred)

  • 5+ years of mechanical/hydraulic/mechatronic design, manufacturing
    , or experience in pumps, motors, controls, or equivalent industry. Internships considered for relevant work experience.


  • Understanding of product design fundamentals at component and system levels.

  • Proficiency with engineering drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-ups, and component inspection procedures.

  • Experience in testing, and/or analysis, including use of lab equipment for verification of designs.

  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing
    processes, including machining, casting (sand, die casting
    , investment casting, etc.), forging, powder metal, and stamping.


  • Knowledge of materials, heat treatments, and coatings.

  • Strong project management skills, particularly with organizing tasks and managing time to complete simultaneous multiple assignments.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and to make timely decisions with sound judgement.

  • Proven ability to function effectively in a cross-functional environment.

  • Good interpersonal and excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Experience using computers: Office, CAD (SolidWorks preferred).

  • Experience with manufacturing
    and engineering software: Preferred: ERP (SAP), PLM (Windchill).

Travel and Work Arrangement:

This position will be considered onsite with up to 25% travel based on customer and business needs.
