The Department of Humanities and Communication at the College of Arts and Sciences in Prescott, Arizona is seeking to fill two 9-month, full-time, non-tenure track faculty positions starting in August 2025. These are ranked, renewable positions, with opportunities for promotion.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach a 4/4 load of undergraduate courses, including first-year composition and 200-level professional writing courses.
  • Instruct newly developed courses and potentially teach 400-level communication courses paired with engineering capstone projects.
  • Additional teaching opportunities may include lower-level courses in rhetoric, cultural studies, digital rhetoric, film, and upper-level humanities courses.
  • Provide service to the department, college, and campus.

Successful candidates will also support the department, college, and campus through service.

Qualifications

Minimum

Ph.D. in Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical and Professional Writing, or related field at the time of the appointment: August 15, 2025.

Preferred

We are interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience in participating in programmatic assessment and curriculum design for first-year writing and humanities courses.
  • Experience teaching technical writing and/or business communication courses that provide practical rhetorical knowledge to students in various majors.
  • Collaborative teaching, team-teaching, or writing across the curriculum
  • Professional experience writing in the disciplines, e.g., in intelligence-gathering communities, the gaming industry, engineering / simulations industries.
