UKG Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing and improving business processes, identifying system requirements, and ensuring that our UKG technology solutions meet the organization's business goals. This role will take the lead in partnering with our business teams to solve business challenges by leveraging process, technology and systems expertise for our UKGPro environment.

This position can be located in any of the following locations: Bend, OR - Portland, OR - Billings, MT - Boise, ID - Bismarck, ND - Sioux Falls, SD or near a Knife River location.

Minimum Requirements:



  • Requires knowledge of business systems and processes at a level normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, management information systems or related field.
  • Experience in software package configuration, installation, integration and maintenance.
  • Understanding of UKG Products (or other similar HRIS/Payroll/Timekeeping/LMS systems).
  • Level I, II, or Sr. will depend on experience/skills/education.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task in fast paces environment
  • Prior experience supporting UKGPro software
  • Proven experience as a business analyst with a focus on HR and payroll


Duties and/or Responsibilities:



  • Work with internal business units to identify and document business needs, goals and system requirements.
  • Work with software vendor support to address bugs in package code.
  • Define business problems/issues and desired outcomes. Develop recommendations on alternative approaches and possible opportunities, while determining impact and long-term viability of solutions.
  • Facilitates meetings, demos and training sessions. Works with internal business units to implement new/upgraded applications and provides guidance and training to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Act as a liaison between internal business unites and IT teams ensuring effective communication of business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes moderately complex application functionality issues. Interfaces with technical application staff and/or vendors to resolve system or application problems. Research and respond to software issues (i.e., break/fix).
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of system changes and enhancements, including training and supporting users.
  • Create and maintain documentation of systems, workflows, and processes for future reference.
  • Provide ongoing support for system-related issues, troubleshooting problems and coordinating solutions between teams.
  • Produce and maintain documentation on all systems.
  • Travel to subsidiary companies for application implementations and support will be required.
  • Available to assist with scheduled on-call support and technical emergencies as required.
  • Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients from all levels in the corporation.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Participate in and effectively work with highly specialized information technology professionals to deliver support services to any of the Knife River Corporation locations.
  • Manage projects from start to completion as assigned by your supervisors.
  • Self-motivated to learn new technologies and relay that information to the team members.
