Role Summary:
Reporting to the Services Manager, the Technical Training Specialist will be responsible for performing company sponsored training, providing technical phone support to customers and other Owner-Associates, and supporting field service work. While specific daily tasks can vary depending on the workload, the primary responsibility of the Technical Training Specialist will be to develop and deliver technical training to external customers and internal teams. The role will also assist the Services Manager with process improvements for the Services Team.
Exciting work you will do:
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Technical Training Specialist position may consist of some or all, and are not limited to, the following:


  • Present training classes for internal and external customers on the equipment we represent and support
  • Develop customer specific training needs utilizing training facilities or at the customer site with loose equipment
  • Update training collateral and create training presentations
  • Provide remote / phone support for technical questions from our customers or Service Technicians
  • Keep current with product knowledge for the products we represent, participate in formal Manufacturer's training
  • Support Service Team with training on valve and instrumentation start-up, configuration and documentation, calibration, troubleshooting, installation review and repair
  • Confirm scope, tool requirements, and site time to accomplish work with field service customers
  • Provide oversight and support to technicians in the field to enable them to complete work efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Assist Services Manager with data analysis and service tracking activities
  • Assemble products to specific drawings and standards
  • Assist in the training of Service Technicians
  • Schedule workorder assemblies with salespeople and shipments with the shipping department
  • Basic wiring of switches, solenoids, position indicators, and control devices
  • Read job blueprints
  • Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
  • Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
  • Utilize database programs, Work Order Generation and Work Order Updates
  • Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of shop facilities
  • Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need:

  • Work Experience: 5 years' experience as a Service Technician working with industrial instrumentation, valves, and controls or similar field
  • Education: High School diploma or GED
  • Analytics/Computer Skills: Ability to use Excel, Word, and web-based software applications; basic math skills; strong business acumen; ability to understand and align deliverables with client objectives
  • Organization Skills: Excellent work ethic, good verbal, and communication skills; ability to work independently
  • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex and technical topics in an easily understood manner

  • Physical Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to temperature conditions prevalent at the time; the noise level in the work environment is consistent with that of a fabrication shop/distribution center/manufacturing facility construction site.
  • Licenses: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Travel: Must be able to travel 40% of the time; customer visitation and offsite work activities require a good driving record


Qualifications we prefer but don't require:


  • Work Experience: Experience performing technical training in a classroom environment, management of service technician schedules and documentation


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical, science or business field


  • Computer Skills: Industrial controls platforms such as RSLogix5000, CRM platforms such as Salesforce
