  • Portneuf Medical Center is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's Level II Trauma and tertiary care center and home to the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group, and Portneuf Air Rescue.

Responsibilities

  • Optimizes patient care by providing appropriate, safe, and cost effective pharmaceutical care including drug dispensing, IV admixture program, and providing drug information.
  • Works under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy and/or the Pharmacy Operations Manager and will oversee the work of pharmacy technicians, students, and support staff.
  • Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately and efficiently in the pharmacy computer system.
  • Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals.
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose.
  • Provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients.
  • Effectively and proactively interact with medical staff regarding drug therapy issue resolutions.
  • Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely.
  • Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges and other approved formulary protocols and/or guardrails.
  • Supervise and assist pharmacy technicians and other support staff effectively.
  • Prioritize work and lead others to comply with facility medication turn-around time policy and procedure and identify areas for improved efficiency.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings and attends staff development in pharmaceutical care to identify learning and performance needs.
  • Support in the training and mentorship of new staff members as assigned.
  • May serve as preceptor for pharmacy students and/or residents.
  • Support and participate in the goals of the organization's quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety program to include but not limited to National Patient Safety Goals, Core Measures, and HCAHPS medication related initiatives.
  • Maintain appropriate controlled substance records.
  • Cover Pediatric and NICU rounds plus oversees antimicrobial stewardship and intervention review for the orthopedic and post-partum unit, and post-op bariatric and breast patients.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. or Pharm D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the Idaho Board of Pharmacy.
  • BLS & ALS/ACLS certification

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy.
  • One year inpatient hospital pharmacy experience.
