Job Description

Position Overview:

Ensure the efficient operation of downstream equipment, including boxmakers, palletizers, robots, and related machinery, in accordance with production requirements. This operator will not be solely placed in the Two-Step Department or the Case Packing Cell but will be expected to work in both areas as needed. Maintain production flow and quality, troubleshoot issues, and communicate effectively with coworkers.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Equipment Setup and Operation: Operate all downstream equipment, including but not limited to the Posimat, Pearson carton erector, Wayne case conditioner, Fanuc Robot, Lantech Wrapper, Seetech, MSK, and bulk palletizer.
  • Production Support: Align with the supervisor on department priorities and assist with uptime and line efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve machinery issues, communicating with supervisors and maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Maintenance Assistance: Perform preventive maintenance (PM) alongside mechanics and operators and record work orders in FMS.
  • Process Adjustments: Set up and make necessary adjustments to machinery for product changes.
  • Quality Checks: Verify that all required quality checks are completed by downstream operators during the shift.
  • Data Collection: Record downtime data, enter production information, and maintain work orders to support root cause analysis.
  • Communication: Conduct daily shift handoffs, deliver toolbox talks at the start of the shift, and provide input on employee performance.
  • Training and Leadership: Utilize the Levels Program to develop technical and leadership skills, provide feedback on employee performance, and train downstream employees.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintain a safe and clean work environment following company standards.
  • GMP Compliance: Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) policies.
  • Safety Rules: Follow established safety guidelines, use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and communicate safety issues.
  • Forklift and Equipment Use: Operate a forklift, walk-reach truck, and aerial lifts safely, completing all required training annually.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to escalate relevant information, and effective teamwork skills.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to learn and apply SAP Mii system, troubleshoot downstream equipment, and complete the Levels Program.
  • Other Requirements: High attention to detail, ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment, interpret instructions, and work a flexible 12-hour shift schedule.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for production shifts, lift/carry up to 50 lbs., and perform physical activities such as squatting, bending, and kneeling.
  • Licenses: Valid driver's license and willingness to obtain an Amcor-certified forklift license.
