The Role:

Under the supervision of the Director, Operations, the Plant Controller is an integral part of the plant management team and a vital member of the corporate Finance team. This position requires direct involvement in both plant operations and corporate finance activities and initiatives, as required.

The Controller will be responsible for the accuracy, completeness, integrity and timeliness of financial and operational management information to be used in reporting financial results for the facility.

Duties include completing month end closing in accordance with corporate requirements, ensuring compliance with corporate requirements and preparing forecast and budgets in close partnership with the plant manager.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of the plant financial statements and accounting activities.
  • Monitor all activities and ensure compliance to all corporate standards.
  • Provide financial support to Plant Operations Director and leadership team to provide insights regarding local operations.
  • Analyze location profitability and review operating metrics highlighting important trends.
  • Manages forecasting and budgeting activities for the plant and provide analysis of differences.
  • Organize & support efforts to reduce unfavorable variances and targeted cost reduction.
  • Provide additional insight to operations on metrics such as scrap, cost of quality, labor, inventory fluctuations and obsolescence.
  • Oversees Assistant Controller and participates in plant costing activities as needed.
  • Responsible for completion of local payroll and payroll spend analysis.
  • Reconcile all inventory and ensure accuracy of inventory records.
  • Manage and obtain local approval for all requests on capital expenditures.
  • Maintain local fixed assets tracking and tagging.
  • Creates and maintains account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
  • Reviews account reconciliations prepared by others.
  • Assist in leadership of local physical inventory process and procedures.
  • Assists in the yearly audit preparation and completion.
  • Performs various projects and analysis as required.

Requirements:

  • BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in finance and accounting.
  • Previous experience as Plant Controller.
  • Previous cost accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Significant, detailed experience with JDE business systems or other integrated business systems.
  • Experience with multi-site locations, including foreign operations.
