What you'll be doing...

We are looking for an exceptional Distinguished Software Architect to join our team. This individual will use Agile methodology to lead the design, development, and release of Messaging service components. The Distinguished Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high quality products and a reduced time to market.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Conceptualizing, designing, developing, deploying, and supporting innovative products throughout the entire product/software development life cycle.

  • Developing and implementing key software components that are integral to high-quality products.

  • Actively participating in requirement gathering, idea validation, and concept prototyping.

  • Architecting and designing comprehensive end-to-end solutions that translate innovative ideas into market-ready products.

  • Refining and iterating on product designs to deliver an exceptional and intuitive user experience.

  • Writing and optimizing code for key software components that drive product functionality.

  • Integrating software components seamlessly with various network systems, including Messaging, Calling, Address Book, Billing, and Provisioning.

  • Partnering with system engineers to create robust system/network designs and architecture that support product goals.

  • Working closely with performance engineers to analyze and refine software design and code, enhancing performance and capacity.

  • Utilizing agile and iterative development methods to demonstrate product features early and often, gathering feedback to continuously refine the user experience.

  • Creating and maintaining clear documentation of software designs, code, and processes. Share knowledge and expertise with team members through code reviews, presentations, and mentorship.

  • Staying informed of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software development. Participate in relevant training and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience with Java/J2EE, Springboot/MVC, JMS and Kafka.

  • Familiarity with developing and deploying services in AWS.

  • Experience building to scale (messaging platform).

  • Ability to work independently gathering requirements and developing solutions.

  • Knowledge of Oracle Databases, Linux/Unix, NoSQL DBs (e.g. MongoDB, HBase), caching mechanisms, Load Balancing, and multi-data center architecture.

  • Knowledge of Microservice Architecture, Cloud Computing, Docker Containers, Restful APIs, and EKS.

  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Design, Agile Scrum, and Test Driven Development.

  • Knowledge of Linux and troubleshooting.

  • Strong programming skills and experience in relevant software development languages and tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to tackle complex technical challenges.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • A drive to create innovative products and solutions that deliver value to users.

  • Experience in agile software development methodologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines.

  • Broad understanding of architecture and design across all systems.

  • Proficiency using development toolsets.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $141,000.00 and $263,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
