Department Overview
As a security first organization, Technology Delivery Services (TDS) is part of the Information Technology (IT) Department. The TDS teams include Information Security, Planning (architecture and PMO), Application Development, Financial Applications, HR & Payroll Development, Infrastructure, and Client Services teams. Position Summary
The Senior MuleSoft Engineer is responsible for MuleSoft development and system integration across UCOP, IT, UC campuses, and implementation partners. This role leads the integration of various internal and external systems within the UC system.

As a MuleSoft expert, the engineer applies advanced systems and software integration concepts to address highly complex issues. This requires analyzing variable factors and aligning solutions with institutional objectives to implement medium- to large-scale projects of broad scope and complexity.

The engineer regularly resolves complex challenges related to business processes, system functionality, implementation, and software integration. They assess situations or data through in-depth evaluation and select appropriate tools, methods, and techniques to achieve optimal results.

Additionally, this role requires participation in after-hours operational support schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • 20% Plans, designs and implements integration enhancements on existing financial system flows for various APIs or applications on Anypoint Platform. Specifically provides support on the the integration of various boundary systems such as Pension Administration system, Payroll, Cashnet etc.
  • 20% Identifies and implements robust monitoring and operational process setup for the MuleSoft integrations supporting various platforms either SaaS such as Oracle, on-prem applications, AWS-hosted applications, or AWS services. Participates in establishing and enhancing the business and operational processes for timely turnaround especially during month end and year end activity.
  • 20% Mentors and leads projects working with mid-level to junior engineers on implementing best practices in code development and production issues. Trains junior team members on best coding practices using Mule with no performance degradation.
  • 20% Collaborates with business partners and helps define metrics, KPIs to increase operational efficiencies. Adheres and participates in SLA, metric & KPI definition as a senior Mulesoft operational support team member.

20% Maintains Operational runbook. Actively participates in roadmap planning and suggesting year-over-year improvements and any other responsibilities as assigned. A key responsibility of this role is ensuring documentation is accurate and current. Takes the lead on product and process documentation.

Experience
Required Qualifications

  • Min 8 years of experience building and implementing model-driven, enterprise-level business solutions; inclusive of a minimum of 5 years of experience in MuleSoft API development.

Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications

  • Ability to translate business requirements into architectural design and implement API/application builds.
  • Experience in test-driven development, including Munit.
  • Understand the user management in the Access Management including Teams and permissions
  • Understand the concept of configuring Connected Apps.
  • Hands-on experience in design and development of complex use cases using MuleSoft.
  • Experience with Design Center creating RAML, Exhange, Runtime Manager Configuration, MQ, Object Store, API Manager applying Policies, SLA, Contract.
  • Experience in setting up VPC, private space, transit gateway, and Setting up TLS.
  • Practical knowledge in MuleSoft's Anypoint Studio and implementing complex Dataweave with various formats XML, JSON, CSV, Multi-part form, etc.
  • Ability to deploy APIs to Cloudhub 2.0 and 1.0
  • Understand and practice API-Led Connectivity building robust, maintainable, and high-availability with proper error handling and strong knowledge of the HTTP protocol.
  • Strong governance to promote Mule best practices, guardrail adherence, API Delivery Model.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying object-oriented concepts while creating enterprise class structure.
  • Experience with integration technologies and database applications such as, but not limited to, AWS services, SOAP, Oracle, DB2, MS/SQL, REST, and/or EJB.
  • Experience to use GIT and understand the concept of utilizing it.
  • Highly technical, motivated, and collaborative individual who can navigate ambiguity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including effectively presenting topics to individuals and groups with potentially varied levels of functional/technical sophistication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and familiarity in implementing Worked on Oracle Cloud in Finance modules like Financial Accounting Hub, and General Ledger.
  • Ability to create/manage basic CI/CD Pipelines (Maven Plugin, Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.).

The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
