Scope of Work:

Performs a variety of Glazier-trade functions such as cutting, installing, and removing glass and materials used as substitutes for glass, such as some plastics.

Responsibilities:

  • Set glass doors into frames and bolt metal hinges, locks, handles and other hardware to attach doors to frames and walls using a level
  • Install pre-assembled wood or metal frameworks for doors and windows before glass panel installation using hand tools
  • Install metal frames and enclosures for glass panels in various areas and structures, including bathtubs, showers, display cases, solariums and skylights
  • Read and understand blueprints and specifications to know necessary work details, including color, shape, size, type and thickness of glass to be installed, framing location, procedures for installation and any scaffolding or other staging items needed before beginning work
  • Drive trucks to work locations and unload tools and equipment, and use suction cups or cranes to lift out glass panels
  • Cut and remove old and broken glass before installing replacement glass
  • Pack loose areas between glass panels and molding or frames with glazing compound, and trim excess material with a glazing knife
  • Lift, hold and secure glass panels and mirrors into position with putty, cement, screws or bolts
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Consistently produces quality products and service.
  • Completes all training within required timeline.
  • Performs all work in a safe and secure manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years residential and commercial experience preferred, and/or formal vocational/technical training. Each complete year of accredited college education in a related field may be substituted for the equivalent number of years of required experience
  • Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • On a continuous basis, sit, stand, bend, climb ladders (up to 40 feet), stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and twist for varying periods in the course of work; use hands and fingers to grasp tools; make repetitive hand and body motions; twist and reach below and above shoulder; lift or carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds; to communicate with co-workers using a two-way radio; use telephone, and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; calculate measurements; see in the normal vision range with or without correction to read computer screen, blueprints, and drafting plans; hear in the normal range with or without correction.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain - side hills and slopes.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer's mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
