We are looking for a Senior Manager - Strategic Sourcing to join our team, reporting to the Head of Procurement. This role will oversee the management of Indirect and operational spend across the Enterprise, including HR, IT, Professional Services, and purchases supporting terminal operations like MRO, rental services, and safety. The ideal candidate will focus on reducing operating and SG&A costs while driving improvements in supplier performance and service. Location: The ideal candidate will be based in Tempe, AZ or Morristown, NJ. We will also consider remote for strong candidates residing in states with existing Ports America operations.

Essential Duties:

Strategic Sourcing





    • Develop and implement strategic sourcing and category management initiatives to drive savings, create value, and support the objectives of the organization.
    • Structure analysis of spending to enable informed decision-making and drive discussions with key stakeholders.
    • Ensure sourcing efforts leverage spend analytics, market intelligence, benchmarking, and TCO analysis.
    • Develop comprehensive implementation plans involving all relevant stakeholders.
    • Bring forward creative alternative sourcing solutions.
    • Quantify and document sourcing project results.




Supplier Relationship Management.




      • Manage suppliers, ensuring supply reliability and continuity, price stability, price predictability, innovation, and identification of alternative sources.
      • Optimize value, quality, and security of supply by measuring performance and maintaining relationships with suppliers.
      • Ensure suppliers are performing to contracted obligations and service levels, and meeting stakeholder expectations.
      • Initiate periodic business reviews with suppliers to review performance and trend program direction.
      • When performance issues emerge, lead interactions with suppliers & stakeholders to ensure efficient resolution.



    Portfolio Strategy.




      • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for assigned spend that drives improvements in quality, inventory, and working capital management, as well as delivery performance.
      • Continually conduct market analysis, peer company benchmarking, supply risk assessments, and evaluation of new sources of supply.
      • Ensure proper sequencing, budgeting, resourcing, and stakeholder support for an annual portfolio of projects.



    Reporting & Intelligence.




      • Provide regular intelligence to stakeholders regarding the Company's evolving spend profile, savings results, and risk mitigation activities.
      • Leverage interactions with external marketplace to provide insight to stakeholders regarding pricing, vendor, and technology trends.



    Collaboration




      • Work with other functional leaders to develop Procurement strategy, objectives, and KPI's.



    Change Advocacy




      • Act as a change agent for immediate and long-term process improvement.
      • Continuously challenges the status quo of existing vendor relations and work with vendors on efficiency improvements to improve value and reduce cost.



    • Travel: 25-40%


    Minimum Qualifications:



    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related discipline.

      • Will consider experience in lieu of education.


    • 10+ years of Procurement & Sourcing experience, preferably for container terminal operations, transportation/logistics, construction, or related industry.


    Preferred Qualifications



    • Experience with category management and multi-step strategic sourcing processes for indirect spend categories.
    • Expertise in negotiations and contracting, including e-sourcing, should-cost models, leveraged agreements, multi-year contracts, complex terms and conditions, performance incentives, and management of corporate risk.
    • A distinctive track record of year-over-year delivery of value and implemented savings on a TCO basis.
    • Strong financial, quantitative, and analytical skills; embraces fact-based decision making; naturally seeks to leverage and/or integrate market data, spend analytics, and cost modeling.
    • Strong project management skills, including stakeholder, timeline, and meeting management skills; demonstrated excellence in managing internal customers.
    • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
    • Able to connect with team members at all levels of the organization, i.e., terminal operations, management, and executives.
    • A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others.


    Physical Working Attributes:



    • Work in an environment with moving objects and machinery
    • The environment may be hazardous to persons unable to see or hear fast moving heavy equipment.
