About our Unit:

At Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC), the ICU stepdown (ICUSD) is a 25-bed progressive care unit known for its strong sense of teamwork and family-like environment. Our team treats patients aged 16 and older with conditions such as end-stage renal disease, COPD, pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis and more. Each patient is monitored on a bedside monitor, with additional support from our telemetry team for heart rate and rhythm observation. The unit is led by a dedicated charge nurse who manages patient assignments and facilities care. Nurses on the unit are ACLS certified and typically care for four to five patients. Our nurse technicians and unit secretaries play crucial roles in supporting patient care and the overall operation of the unit. Nurse technicians assist nurses with obtaining glucose, vital signs, and ADLS; unit secretaries help facilitate direct patient calls and assist the team with the discharge process. Overall, the ICUSD is a diverse group of medical professionals that values and demonstrates strong teamwork.
