The swing shift (3pm to 11pm) Public Sector Manager on Duty (MOD) plays a critical role in ensuring the stability and performance of Verizon network services for our valued public sector clients. This position requires a strong technical background, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to excel under pressure.

In this role you will...

  • Proactively monitor network and service health to identify and address potential major outages before they escalate.

  • Handle customer escalations from senior management and Verizon Business executives, including levels up to the CEO, in a professional and timely manner.

  • Lead high-level crisis bridges, providing clear and concise updates to stakeholders, facilitating collaboration, and driving towards swift resolution.

  • Possess an understanding of network/circuit flow and familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, and various network elements.

  • Effectively communicate complex technical information both orally and in writing to sensitive Public Sector customers and internal leadership.

  • Collaborate with multiple Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) management teams to expedite outage resolution.

  • Scan and track commercial and federal ticket queues for long-duration outages, ensuring timely updates from floor engineers and the service desk.

  • Identify application issues impacting public sector operations and engage appropriate internal teams or vendors for resolution.

  • Generate and distribute timely and accurate notifications to management regarding major outages and ongoing resolution efforts.

  • Ensure a seamless handover of any open issues to the incoming shift manager.

Where you'll be working...

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location of Cary, North Carolina that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your leader

You'll need to have...

  • A Bachelor's Degree or four or more years of work experience

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience

  • Four or more years of experience in a Major Incident Management (MIM) role or handling high-priority escalations, preferably within the telecommunications industry.

  • Four or more years of experience with network/circuit flow and familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, and various network elements

  • Experience working independently and make critical decisions under pressure.

  • Experience using Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications

  • Must be able to work 3 p.m. - 11 p.m. shift

  • Must have, or be able to qualify for, a government clearance at the Public Trust level
