Scientific Programmer

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking Scientific Programmer candidates to support an opportunity at the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five (5) years of experience writing software for the calibration, analysis, and processing of remote sensing data.
• Fluent in FORTRAN, C, C++, MATLAB, Python, and IDL programming languages.
• Security Clearance required.

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledge of SQL for data management and programming of FPGA or GPUs is desirable.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
