Diagnostic Technician II

The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University seeks a Diagnostic Technician II. This position will perform tests in the Clinical Pathology Laboratory; perform clinical analyzes on animal body fluids and tissues, interpret and report results, and maintain the quality system through document reviews, trend analysis for all tests as well as corrective action reports and ensuring the quality of test results. The expectation is to have flexible work hours when demand/program requires it and a responsibility to our Quality Program.

This position is on-site.

Minimum Qualifications:

  Requires an associate degree and two years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• One or more years experience with diagnostic microbiology
• Experience in veterinary diagnostic setting preferred
• Ability to establish and maintain records
• Ability to work well with people
• Ability to work weekends and additional hours as necessary
• Ability to know the differences in pathogenic vs. non-pathogenic bacterial growth
• Decision making skills
• Computer skills and ability to use a database software package
• Knowledge of handling pathogens
• Organization and communication skills
