Consultant, Cloud Architect, Principal

Position Description:

Serve as a specialized consultant and subject matter expert (SME), engaged on a variable hour basis for special projects both internally and for our clients. Applies advanced systems analysis techniques and consult with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Expertise is pivotal in the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud architectures. Develop and maintain architectural blueprints and technical specifications for cloud solutions, ensuring compliance with company standards, policies, and best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Consulting and Systems Analysis:



  • Act as a consultant and SME on special projects involving the design, management, and optimization of cloud systems, applications, policies, and strategy.
  • Apply advanced systems analysis techniques and consult with stakeholders to define hardware, software, or system functional specifications.


Cloud Architecture Design and Implementation:



  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud architectures.
  • Develop and maintain architectural blueprints and technical specifications for cloud solutions, ensuring compliance with company standards, policies, and best practices.


Cloud Deployment & Management:



  • Oversee the deployment of cloud infrastructure, applications, and services.
  • Implement and manage continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Monitor cloud environments to ensure performance, scalability, availability, and cost efficiency.


Cloud Migration:



  • Lead and execute cloud migration projects from on-premises or other cloud platforms.
  • Develop migration strategies, including data transfer, application re-hosting, and re-platforming.
  • Perform post-migration validation and optimization to ensure successful transitions.


Cloud Security:



  • Implement and manage security controls to protect cloud infrastructure and data.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).


Cloud Optimization:



  • Continuously analyze and optimize cloud resources for cost-efficiency and performance.
  • Utilize cloud-native tools and services to automate processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for proactive issue resolution.


Technical Leadership & Collaboration:



  • Serve as a technical advisor and SME for cloud-related projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, IT, and development teams, to ensure seamless integration and operation of cloud solutions.
  • Mentor and guide junior cloud engineers and team members.


Documentation & Reporting:



  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all cloud architectures, configurations, and processes.
  • Generate regular reports on cloud performance, security, and cost metrics.
  • Provide detailed technical documentation for cloud solutions and processes.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Proficiency in cloud architecture, deployment, and management.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices and tools.
  • Experience with cloud migration strategies and execution.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $90.01 to $98.95 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
