Purchasing and Warehouse Coordinator

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the engineering group and the plants to complete capital projects safely, on time and within budget.
  • Prepare and execute competitive bid packages for approximately $50 million in Capital Spend. Analyze results, establish terms and conditions in conjunction with legal and summarize for evaluation and award to vendors/contractors.
  • Track and expedite orders as necessary.
  • Solicit budgetary quotes for equipment and services for projects as needed.
  • Issue Purchase Orders other inquiries within our ERP system or through external formats.
  • Incorporate negotiation strategies to achieve the most competitive position for Koppers.
  • Work with the plants to establish qualified and competitive contractors.
  • Work with the plants to establish qualified and competitive vendors to supply MRO and other indirect supply items.
  • Support supplier performance and development initiatives to ensure quality, on-time delivery, and cost adherence.
  • Analyze common spend at various locations for potential combined spend to drive down costs.
  • Work on strategic initiatives including Sustainability, Diversity and streamlining the Purchasing system.
  • Serves as backs up to warehouse personnel as needed, specifically for "indirect procurement" of spare parts and other supporting spare parts and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with Responsible Care requirements.
  • Shipping and receiving functions that include driving a forklift.
  • Stock and pick spare parts and literature inventory.
  • Preparation, shipping of industry show booth displays, materials, etc.
  • Mix and handle hazardous chemicals (acids, bases, etc.) for Quality Control Supplies.
  • Process and ship customer orders using computerized inventory and shipping systems.
  • Assist with inventory management/control.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or other related field from an accredited College or University.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the business, purchasing, supply chain
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft.
  • Financial skills and working knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Excellent planning, organizing and analytical skills.
