What you will do

The senior compensation manager is a critical role responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining compensation programs to attract, retain, and motivate talent from the C-suite to the shop floor. This role works across all areas of compensation including base pay, incentive programs including short- and long-term incentives involving stock plans for a publicly traded company. The incumbent will work closely with the talent acquisition and human resources generalists to ensure compensation remains competitive and compliant with the legal landscape. This role supports the delivery of compensation materials to the executive team and board of directors and executes the compensation related regulatory filings.

Base Compensation Management



  • Develop relationships as a trusted SME with HR and leaders
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each salaried position.
  • Monitor and update Salary Offer Tool when appropriate.
  • Create job codes, titles and relevant information in various systems (i.e., UKG, MarketPay, etc.).
  • Analyze market data and make recommendations for salary structure updates.
  • Ensure timely participation in selected third party salary and compensation planning surveys.
  • Develop recommendation for the Annual Salary Increase process for Salaried employees, including calculating increases, creating import files and confirmation statements.
  • Research and develop recommendations for annual budget adjustments to maintain internal and external equity in compensation planning.
  • Conduct the hourly site wage analysis and drive the hourly annual increase process and execution.
  • Stay abreast of employment law updates, monitor and interpret FLSA and other federal, state, and local laws pertaining to compensation and compliance.


Incentive Compensation



  • Execute annual incentive plan including, tracking, accruals, payment and communication
  • Support review and development for plan design updates to ensure alignment to business priorities
  • Support controller with long term incentive plans as needed


Technical and Organizational Support



  • Complete all annual filings including proxy (CD&A)
  • Assist with board of director materials development
  • Work on special projects as assigned

What you will need



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field required.
  • 7 -10 years' experience as a compensation professional, compensation management experience preferred
  • CCP or comparable education preferred
  • Experience with HRIS systems preferred, UKG Pro experience desired.
  • Strong analytical skills, balancing "big picture" perspective with attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Capable of working independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Adept at dealing effectively with all employees and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgement.
  • Intermediate skill level in the use of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Office environment; with limited exposure to manufacturing production mill environment-hot, dusty, humid, noisy, various environmental exposures.
  • Some eye fatigue due to computer use and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Some domestic travel, up to 15%
