General Responsibilities
The Dual Enrollment Academic Success Coach ( ASC) serves as a program pathway liaison to students and their families to provide academic guidance regarding the college's dual enrollment programs. In the spirit of meeting students where they dream, the ASC assists the office of dual enrollment with the development and implementation of outreach strategies targeting high school student populations with detailed information about dual enrollment pathway opportunities at the college. This position supports student success by providing essential academic pathway guidance and directing students to academic and social support toward completion.
This position requires an outstanding interpersonal communicator with an excellent understanding of the operational units at Howard Community College ( HCC), and an enthusiasm to help resolve complex problems and deliver process improvements while working as part of a team. The ASC must interface with students and their families in small groups and facilitate presentations for larger groups that encourage interest, enrollment, and retention in dual enrollment courses and programs. The ASC supports the office of dual enrollment by developing and delivering information sessions, conducting student outreach, working collaboratively with HCC faculty and staff, external partners for day-to-day processes involved in supporting student success in dual enrollment programs.
Work Performed
* Coordinates information sessions, outreach communications and pathway success involved in student retention and completion for dual enrollment programs.
* Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of student progress records related to tracking course success and program completion.
* Assists with the development and implementation of outreach strategies for targeted populations and programs. Provides pre-enrollment support to prospective students, including middle school and high school students.
* Serves as a point of contact for academic program information to community constituencies regarding dual enrollment pathways.
* Works closely with high school counselors to support students in matriculating to college.
* Responds to all forms of inquiries regarding the college's programs and services for students, parents, public and private school personnel, businesses, agencies, organizations, and others.
* Provides academic pathway guidance and support for students enrolled in dual enrollment courses and programs.
* Serves on key committees that support student academic standing, including working with students who are on academic warning and probation.
* Communicate with students regarding their course standing and directs students to appropriate college support.
* Updates knowledge by attending workshops, conferences, meetings, and participating in other professional development opportunities.
* Collaborates with the Director of Dual Enrollment, Assistant Director, dual enrollment staff and faculty on data-based decisions and recommendations for program changes.
* Engages with student success staff (admissions, advising tutoring recruitment) to support dual enrollment strategic initiatives and goals
* Working with the dual enrollment data operations analyst supports the collection of dual enrollment student course and program data (retention, outcomes and completions).
* May be required to facilitate first year college success course for Dual Enrollment students.
* Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Education Required Bachelor's degree
Minimum Number of Years Experience Required 3
Other Knowledge Required
Bachelor's degree required.
* Three years of experience working with high school or college student populations.
* Two years of dual enrollment experience.
* Excellent oral (particularly public speaking), writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
* Outstanding interpersonal skills required, including the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Excellent time management skills and the ability to monitor several tasks concurrently.
* Excellent technology skills required; knowledge and experience with MS Office, Datatel's Colleague (or similar student system), digital imaging software, communications management, social networking, and other software applications strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while providing excellent customer service.
* Proficiency in CRM and Ellucian products.
* Bilingual skills desirable.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
* Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.
* Experience working on higher education initiatives relating to student access and student completion preferred.
* Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.
Working Conditions
Responsibilities involve deadlines and time-driven conditions. Must be able to work overtime and outside of normal daytime working hours when necessary to complete assignments. Many meetings may take place off-campus.

As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor's degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
