POSITION SUMMARY:

The Controller manages the day-to-day financial operations of the organization and ensures accurate financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversees accounting functions (accounts payable, accounts receivable); applies accounting principles and understands the impact.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations related to financial reporting.
  • Prepares financial statements and reports.
  • Develops and maintains financial dashboards to track key performance indicators.
  • Manages the general ledger and ensures accuracy.
  • Manage month-end close.
  • Implements internal controls and financial policies.
  • Manages the external audit process.
  • Oversees determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Establishes and maintains effective internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
  • Conducts regular audits of financial processes and recommends improvements as necessary.
  • Supervises the finance and accounting team
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, and non-profit organization experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Navision preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and maintain a strong commitment to the organization's mission.
