Job Summary
#48xnursing The role of the position is to provide a wide variety of functions in support of the departmental team including managing resources, projects and coordinating the efforts of team members to deliver projects according to plan. The incumbent independently performs assignments using of complex analysis of infection prevention data mining information technology systems with determined solutions, interpretation of University policies and procedures, preparation of technical reports and graphs for presentation and confidential reporting of HIPAA protected patient information to local, state and federal infection control agencies- (NHSN, CalREDIE, CDPH, CMS). Incumbent provides recommendations based on significant knowledge of the organization and evaluation of data. Applies professional acquired skills and concepts to infection prevention projects of medium size to all levels of complexity, or to portions of large projects. Full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures, research, and analyzes and develops solutions. Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with program work flows and supports the departmental projects that are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Evaluates and develops new and efficient workflows or reporting methodologies to improve department productivity. - Bachelor's degree in health-related field, and/or equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Experience in EPIC, CalRedie, NHSN (National Healthcare Safety Network), and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Knowledge of medical and microbiology terminology.
- Familiarity with the clinical and operational issues in infection prevention including policies, regulatory requirements, patient care and related nursing issues.
- Skills in data analysis, research, reporting, documentation methods, Ability to contribute to studies, investigation, reports and presentations and development of new infection prevention protocols and policies.
- Detail Oriented, with proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks and see projects through to completion and deadline.
- Strong people skills with the ability to provide education training and resources, and to develop positive working relationships with employees and department stakeholders.
- Strong skills in written and verbal communication, with the ability to collaborate productively in a team environment with all levels of internal and external personnel and to convey complex clinical reporting information in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work with management and staff across departments, and to serve as an information resource, providing moderately complex issues of functionality, clinical quality, efficiency, and program development.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.

- Additional specialized technical training in infection prevention.
- Experience with BD HealthSight, Tableau

Department Overview The Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Prevention department provides surveillance, prevention and control of healthcare associated infections, exposure evaluations communicable disease reporting, outbreak analysis and mitigation strategies for the health system.
