Summary Responsible for all aspects of production management for a designated Assembly Focus Factory Primary Responsibilities
- Direct responsibility through supervision of all Direct Labor associates within the designated production department
- Responsible for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity delivered by the department.
- Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management officer and the occupational safety specialist.
- The supervisor is responsible for creating and maintaining facilities for his or her area of responsibility, and for giving instructions and taking other measures to ensure, maintain and improve occupational safety and environmental protection regarding occupational safety and environmental protection, the prevention of occupational accidents and environmental damage, occupational diseases and work-related health hazards.
- Meet customer expectations of product Quality, Delivery and Cost, through delivering production output.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies Education and Experience:
- A four-year undergraduate degree in engineering, physics or technical field along with 3 years' experience in a production environment preferred
- Broad understanding engineering requirements of hi-tech products.
- Experience with laser or laser system manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Experience and solid understanding of systems and processes to govern a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of production planning and control of systems/processes
Skills/Knowledge:
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback and self-development activities.
- Ability to follow and provide clear, concise verbal and written instructions.
- Unwavering commitment to EHS and Safety conscious behaviors
- Ability to demonstrate Novanta core values and lead by example
- Production knowledge of laser industry or similar industry products and regulatory requirements related to field.
- Working level knowledge of LEAN/ NGS principles and aptitude to lead kaizen events and problem-solving initiatives.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to use discretion in selecting procedures and techniques to apply to work and determine priority of assignments.
- Supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Self-sufficient in all areas of responsibility.
Cross Functional Requirements:
- Coordinates with R&D, Planning, Supply chain and Sub Assembly areas relating to operation performance, trends and corrective action. Verifies compliance and effectiveness of the production system by performing audits and processes. May initiate programs to improve performance.
- Participates on product and R&D development teams to review engineering releases and changes, manufacturing methods, planning, and process specifications as it relates to product quality.
- Refines and enhances products and processes by applying root causes, continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to areas of production, supply chain and other stakeholder similar to finance and master planning.
