Your Role on the Team Position Summary: Inpatient Supervisor Specialist functions as a recognized expert, providing authoritative professional guidance to staff within the inpatient hospital pharmacy. Ensures institutional compliance with all applicable pharmacy regulations, including but not limited to CA Board of Pharmacy, The Joint Commission, CDPH, CMS, and USP 795, 797, and 800 standards. Assists with the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of daily operations of the inpatient pharmacy. Incumbent provides the day to day supervision, oversight, and coordination of drug distribution, computer prescription order processing, therapeutic intervention as needed, provision of drug information and consultation to other professional staff and patients, the maintenance of patient prescription profiles, drug therapy monitoring, and drug compounding. Ensures efficient operations and is responsible for the implementation and daily management of cost control measures, drug utilization improvement and patient outcomes. Works to enhance integration of services to improve departmental efficiency and optimize drug delivery systems. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental policies and procedures. Prepares short and long range goals and objectives for assigned pharmacy area for review and approval by the Assistant Director of Pharmacy. Incumbent is actively involved in employee, pharmacy resident, and student evaluations, mentorship, and training. Incumbent will work closely with hospital leadership and have strong communication skills. Incumbent is expected to actively participate in pharmacy education programs and oversee and assist with training of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, students, and residents. This position is a Direct Patient Care Provider as defined in Pharmacy Policy.
