Overview:

As a Value Stream Foreman, you will lead and coordinate the activities within a specific value stream to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of products or services. This role involves overseeing production processes, managing a team and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance.

Responsibilities:

Value Stream Leadership:

  • Lead and supervise all activities within the assigned value stream, including production, quality, and maintenance.
  • Ensure the value stream operates in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Team Management:

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of production, maintenance, and quality professionals.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture, emphasizing accountability and continuous improvement.

Production Planning and Scheduling:

  • Collaborate with the production planning team to develop and execute production schedules based on customer demand and inventory targets.
  • Monitor and adjust schedules as needed to meet production goals.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the value stream.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall performance.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the value stream and regularly monitor and analyze performance metrics.
  • Implement data-driven decision-making processes to identify areas for improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Address and resolve issues that may impact the value stream's performance.

Quality Assurance:

  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure that products meet or exceed established quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures within the value stream.

Resource Optimization:

  • Manage resources effectively, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to meet production demands.
  • Collaborate with procurement to ensure a stable and cost-effective supply chain.

Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Generate regular reports on key performance metrics and value stream performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of processes, procedures, and changes within the value stream.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Operations Management, or 10 plus years of experience.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of value stream mapping, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to improve performance.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Strong Electrical Background is a plus.

Abilities:

  • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
