Overview

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality and compliance standards. This role will optimize the procurement process by implementing efficient strategies and best practices, overseeing the entire supplier management experience, ensuring strong vendor relationships, monitoring performance, and negotiating favorable terms for cost savings and quality improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
  • Manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand purchasing needs and align procurement strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive performance and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Analyze purchasing trends, market conditions, and cost structures to support strategic decision-making.
  • Resolve issues related to supplier performance, invoicing, and order discrepancies.
  • Track inventory levels to ensure adequate supply and avoid stockouts or overstock situations.
  • Conduct regular supplier audits to assess performance, quality, and compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives to improve the overall efficiency of the procurement process.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of procurement activities and supplier performance.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the supply chain, including potential disruptions and supplier reliability issues.
  • Leverage procurement software and tools to streamline processes, improve data accuracy, and enhance decision-making.
  • Performs other duties and projects assigned.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of proven procurement, supply chain management experience with a focus on complex purchasing strategies required.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), procurement software (Coupa, Ariba), and data analysis tools (Excel, Tableau) required.
  • Certifications in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), plus.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication (written, verbal, and presentation), and problem-solving skills, driving successful outcomes and fostering strong professional relationships.
  • Proficient in analyzing data, generating reports, and making data-driven purchasing decisions.
  • In-depth understanding of industry-specific procurement regulations and best practices.
  • Capable of working independently and thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily inside throughout the year.
  • Position may require employees to be physically present at designated worksite locations.
  • Requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
