JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Receptionist (Bilingual) performs front desk duties for the medical clinic. The position welcomes visitors and clients, answers telephone calls, registers and schedules patients, provide customer service, handles cash, and interact with patients as important part of intake, eligibility and billing process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Manages a multiline telephone system efficiently and politely, minimizing hold time.
  • Serves as liaison between providers and patients. (Scheduling appointments, providing referrals, warranting eligibility for the clinic and grants that cover patients' fees).
  • Keeps medical and dental providers, nurses, medical and dental assistants, and any other related staff abreast of scheduling, patient details, and potential service delays.
  • Verifies patients' eligibility for Montgomery Cares, Care For Kids and Chronic Care Programs, if applicable.
  • Oversees the movement of the clients in and out of the clinics.
  • Verifies signs in for clinic services, rights and responsibilities, grievance forms, notice of privacy, HIPAA agreement, and any other intake documentation.
  • Assists in specialty referral process by notifying patients of upcoming specialist appointments, distributing referral letters, and maintaining a record of confirmed appointments.
  • Calculate clients' fees and collect payments in several forms (cash, check, and credit card) in Electronic Clinical Works (eCW) as well as the cash register while also providing receipts of all transactions.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:




  • High School Diploma; Associates Degree preferred.



  • Two years' administrative experience, preferably in a medical setting.



  • Experience working with the Latino community preferred.




SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:



  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of computer systems (MS Office products) and ability to navigate web-based applications.
