Job Purpose

EnerSys is looking for a new member of the team to generate sales of medical batteries. This is an excellent opportunity for an established business development leader with at least 5-10 years of experience in the medical device / medical device batteries industry to join a growing international medical component supplier. This key role will interact with customers and internal personnel to support bid and proposal activity from initial contact, program award, and product delivery. This role is the primary liaison between the company and its medical customers and requires an entrepreneurial approach to marketing and growing the medical division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and grow existing accounts within the medical market segment by ensuring a high level of customer service, coordinating company responses to customer technical requests, and negotiating favorable pricing and contract terms.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the medical battery market.
  • Ability to prospect for new business.
  • Identify new customers in target market segments and secure new customer relationships.
  • Prime point of contact for new enquiries from new and existing customers.
  • Implement and update a customer relations management database for tracking new opportunities over a multi-year sales cycle.
  • Ability to understand and respond to complex and detailed RFP requests from medical device companies.
  • Coordinate proposal activities and interact closely with technical, commercial and program management personnel to ensure timely and accurate bids are submitted to customers.
  • Communicate directly with technical personnel in customer organizations to provide product data, field technical questions, and support technical reviews.
  • Support / lead contract negotiations in conjunction with commercial team.
  • Assist in contract handover to the Project Team following contract award.
  • Represent customer interests in the product development process and internal production initiatives relating to efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Identify and track near, mid and long-term prospects for forecasting and business planning.
  • Support development of an annual budget for the medical division, regularly update the forecast to reflect changes in the medical business and communicate key changes to executive management.
  • Support the development, execution, and marketing of a strategic plan for the medical division that reflects an understanding of medical device industry trends, customers, competitors, and regulations.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and technical conferences including presentations as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) or equivalent in a related area.
  • 5-10 years of experience in medical sales or customer management.
  • Medical sales experience or highly regulated industry experience is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
  • Good math skills, Excel proficiency.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to negotiate difficult situations. Effectively prioritize and manage workflow with minimum supervision. Good interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a high degree of computer proficiency including, Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. CRM database experience preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated, have a high level of energy, and project the company image in a positive manner. Must be able to work with little or no supervision and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of battery technology and industry is a plus.
  • Working Knowledge of medical device technology and industry is a plus.
  • Travel Required:: As required for sales, trade shows, conferences, and/or training.
