We're looking for an Associate Counsel, Licensing & Events

About the role:
You will be asked to support in the delivery of legal advice and business solutions to our global licensing division. More specifically the purpose of your role is to support our media, product, content, distribution and syndication licensing teams. The role will involve a strong focus on global media publishing licensing deals, custom licensing formats and arrangements, film, tv and trademark usage with a heavy involvement with transactional matters and issues.

To Senior Counsel, Licensing (based in the UK)

What you will do:
* Advise on matters related to content licensing and other product and media licensing
opportunities in respect of multiple jurisdictions with internal clients in US and UK timezones.
* Collaborate with content, employment, data privacy, compliance, corporate and commercial colleagues in Legal to ensure support for Conde Nast's licensing division, as well as to advise on bespoke legal issues.
* Advise on governance of licensee relationships, including covenant compliance, financial monitoring and parallel activities.
* Work closely with the Content Legal team, develop knowledge of media licensing law and principles.
* Manage precedents and ensure templates are always evolving with business needs and legal updates.
* Handle large volumes of work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced working
environment.

Who you are:
* Admitted to practice law in New York (or hold significant business affairs experience) with a good background in contract negotiation and transactional matters.
* Strong experience in transactional work, commercial contracts gained either in private practice or in an in-house role in a similar sector to Conde Nast. Strong self-organization skills and workload management, knowing when to escalate matters within legal or wider support functions.
* Experience with brand licensing in a large international media organization
* Experience in commercial law and contract disputes, including an awareness of emerging trends, media/publishing regulation and the rise in crossover brand collaborations.
* Ability to present legal advice in a pragmatic, problem solving and commercial fashion and be known as a true 'enabler' to the businesses requests.
* Strong experience in stakeholder relationship handling and embedding new processes.
* Positive "can do" attitude and willingness to work flexibly.
* Foundation understanding of UK and US privacy law and principles.
* Strong attention to detail and exceptional drafting skills.

The Conde Nast Legal team is led by the General Counsel based in New York and is comprised of colleagues in London, China, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Mexico, India, Japan and Taiwan. We are also supported by a network of outside counsel and work closely with colleagues in Advance Legal who provide legal counsel to Conde Nast and our parent company, Advance Publications. Where will you be?
We value collaboration, and our team comes together in the office four days a week.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $160,000-$180,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
